Tahoma 31 is the newer OSU Bermuda bred for cold tolerance. Most cold-hardy Bermuda available. Sports-field quality with reduced winter dormancy. The pick for north Louisiana athletic fields and premium residential.
Tahoma 31 Bermuda is a Cynodon dactylon hybrid released by Oklahoma State University in 2018. It is documented as the most cold-tolerant Bermuda on the commercial market, with sports-field-quality density and excellent drought tolerance.
Best fit: north and central Louisiana sports fields where Bermuda needs to recover from winter freezes, premium residential across the state, and commercial properties that want a newer high-performance Bermuda. Grown by Craft Turf Farms and through the Sod Production Services licensed grower network.
Where Tahoma 31 does not fit: budget installs (Tifway 419 wins on price), or south LA where the cold tolerance is overkill. Tahoma 31 is the right pick when cold tolerance and newer breeding science are the priorities.
