Latitude 36 Bermuda is a Cynodon dactylon cultivar released by Oklahoma State University in 2010. It was bred for cold tolerance and sports-field quality, with proven Louisiana supply at Simpson Sod Co (Covington, established 1972).
Best fit: north and central Louisiana athletic fields and premium residential where cold tolerance and proven LA supply both matter. Latitude 36 has been in commercial production longer than Tahoma 31 and has established performance records at LA farms.
Where Latitude 36 does not fit: south LA where cold tolerance is unnecessary (TifTuf or 419 win), or budget builds where 419 is cheaper. Latitude 36 is the right pick when north LA cold tolerance plus proven LA supply both matter.

Yes. Simpson Sod Co (Covington, 1,000 acres since 1972) actively grows Latitude 36, plus several other LA producers. Supply is solid for north LA athletic fields and premium residential.
Cold tolerance. Latitude 36 extends to USDA Zone 6 vs 419's Zone 7. North LA freezes can damage 419 in a hard winter, requiring spring renovation. Latitude 36 recovers faster from cold and resumes spring green-up earlier.
Latitude 36 typically costs 20-40 percent more per pallet than 419 due to the licensing premium and slower production. Contractor pricing applies on volume.
Yes, but the cold tolerance is unnecessary in south LA. For Houma, Lafayette, NOLA Metro, or Lake Charles, TifTuf (water-efficient) or Celebration (family-yard) make more sense. Latitude 36 shines specifically in the cooler northern parishes.
